Here we go again! Typhoon Muifa (TCCOR 2)

typhoon

Just thought I’ve give a quick update, as you can see from the picture to the left Typhoon Muifa is closing in on Okinawa, the push pin, and we are currently at TCCOR 2.  Yes, Muifa is much larger than the push pin aka Okinawa, but yet again I’m not too concerned.

“ TCCOR 2: Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are anticipated within 24 hours. Remove or secure all outside items.”

1 Knot = 1.15077945 mph

I’ll try to post a few updates as it gets more exciting, but right now it is just “weird” cloudy and quiet… “before the storm.”  Plus, it is not suppose to get here until around noon tomorrow at the earliest.  Stay tuned to the links at the bottom of the post for the most up-to-date information.  It should also be noted should we lose power I won’t be able to post anything new.  In that case I will post an update once we get power back.

The Sounds of Okinawa

DSC04510

Yesterday evening we kept hearing this sound coming from outside and we were trying to figure out what it was and where it was coming from.  Finally, Arielle noticed this couple playing across the street.  We don’t know how long they had been out practicing when we noticed, but they played easily for well over an hour.

Since, we had just got supper ready we decided to take advantage of free live entertainment and sat outside to enjoy both the weather and the music.  Its not every day you get good free live entertainment from your balcony.  They play straight through while we ate.  After we were done eating I stayed outside a little longer while they played while Arielle started back up on her craft project that was calling her name.

Kebab’s Indian Restaurant

DSC04483I met up with Steph for lunch today and we tried out a restaurant we’ve been driving past since we arrived on the island.  Kebab’s is conveniently located right on Route 58 and is near our apartment.  It’s also right above the Mexican restaurant Obbligato and next to the “garlic ramen” shop.  Needless to say, parking can become quite challenging around lunchtime.

All Clear

DSC04402We just wanted to let everyone know that it is a beautiful partly cloudy blue sky day with a slight breeze and 75 degrees.  Although no church today, due to the typhoon and possible clean ups that are going on around the island.

The typhoon is now only a tropical storm that is well north of Okinawa.  Needless to say it was an exciting night.  We lost power multiple times through the evening and had both the building shake through most of the evening and the front door both sound and look like it was going to blow in.

As for damage it looks fairly minimum around our area.

Typhoon Songda

image

Just thought I’ve give a quick update, as you can see from the picture to the left Typhoon Songda is closing in on Okinawa and we are currently at TCCOR 1C.

“TCCOR 1 Caution: Destructive winds of 50 knots or greater are anticipated within 12 hours. Actual winds are 34-49 knots.”

1 Knot = 1.15077945 mph

However, with the last weather update it is only a category 2 typhoon.  Which means I’ve had worst normal thunderstorms in NE.  Yes there will be wind, currently aprox. 44 mph, and rain, predicted 10ins over the course of the weekend, but nothing both we and Okinawa cannot handle.  I will post another update in the morning when we get up letting everyone know everything is ok.
