East China Sea

Saturday we packed a lunch and drove up to Torii Beach.  (Yes, we know we have a beach three blocks away, but that one is a public beach.  Torii is on base and we rarely have to share the beach with anyone else.)  It was partly cloudy and very humid.  When the sun would peek out from behind the clouds, we were very happy the water was warm enough not to cause my teeth to chatter, but cool enough to feel refreshing.  That being said, there wasn't a great deal of water to be had anywhere near the shore.

Happy 28th, Brandon!

My wonderful hubby Brandon's birthday is just a few days after mine.  He also shares his birthday with my best friend, Joy.  Now that is something to celebrate!  :)

I stopped at our local Japanese bakery and picked up a beautiful white cake for Brandon.  They even did a beautiful "Happy Birthday, Brandon" inscription in hiragana and katakana on a shortbread cookie to make the cake even more special!

Happy 27th, Arielle!

Today was my 27th birthday.  Yay!  Sooooo big!!!  I wore my red, white, and blue in honor of Flag Day, and was delighted that my fellow chapel volunteers were decked out in patriotic colors too, to celebrate my birthday, of course!  :)

Happy (belated) Towel Day!

I can't believe I forgot to post Happy Towel Day on May 25th!  For all you hard-core Douglas Adams' fans out there, please know, we did actually celebrate with you, even if I am just now getting around to actually posting about it.

Towel Day is held in honor of Douglas Adams, the author of the "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series.  Participants are supposed to carry around a towel on May 25th to show their love and remembrance of this amazing sci-fi author.
