Brandon in Okinawa

DSC04402We just wanted to let everyone know that it is a beautiful partly cloudy blue sky day with a slight breeze and 75 degrees.  Although no church today, due to the typhoon and possible clean ups that are going on around the island.

The typhoon is now only a tropical storm that is well north of Okinawa.  Needless to say it was an exciting night.  We lost power multiple times through the evening and had both the building shake through most of the evening and the front door both sound and look like it was going to blow in.

As for damage it looks fairly minimum around our area.  There are a few things that have seemed to have been blown around, but nothing too serious as you can see below:

And then there was this:

It looks like someone set a bomb off with the swing set.  As you can tell from the picture it was staked down, but that definitely did not hold up to the wind.  However, the wind did nicely wrap up the swings.  Luckily though it looks like all the parts are still there or down the side of the building so they should be able to put it back together.  Oh and it should be noted in the upper left where there is mud now, it was tall grass and weeds yesterday that have been completely ripped out.  We decided that this is enough excitement for one week and hope the next typhoon is a ways off.

Hope you have a good rest of your weekend!

Here is the video of our front door.  Enjoy! :)
