Pancakes and sushi, anyone?

Dinner time and Brandon and I are trying to decide what we're hungry for...I want pancakes and Brandon wants sushi.  Where else but Okinawa could we find a cafe that would appease both of our cravings?  We had seen signs for Su Su Soon, but had yet to try it, so we took a short walk and soon (Su Su Soon - hehehe) found ourselves in front of a small, unassuming looking cafe.

Not only can you find a cafe that serves pancakes and sushi on Okinawa, I also love that the shadiest exteriors here often reveal the cutest little stores or cafes!  And it might be silly, but I actually enjoy swapping my shoes for slippers upon entering some cafes, such as this one, and Su Su Soon even had cubby holes with cute little doors to store our shoes in.

As with all restaurants in this country, everything is about beautiful presentation.  Our water pitcher even had bright green mint leaves inside!  We started our meal with delicious mango shakes, complete with real pieces of mango all throughout - have I mentioned how much we love the easy access to fresh tropical fruits on this island?  :) I'd go back simply for a refreshing mango shake, even if I wasn't hungry for a whole meal!

Brandon ordered the Su-Sushi and received this gorgeous plate of colorful sushi!  Doesn't it remind you of a piece of artwork?  He thoroughly enjoyed it all!

I ordered the pancakes with "red bean jam and ice cream."  Again, beautiful presentation and wonderful, heavy, very-filling pancakes.  If you hadn't told me it was red bean jam and ice cream, I would have been very hard pressed to tell you what I was eating.  (The fresh mango slices were wonderful, by the way!)  It tasted good, but wasn't very sweet at all.  Good, but definitely not what we were expecting.  In case you are wondering, yes, I would order it again, but I want to try a few other options on the menu first.  :)

Final opinion - we'll definitely go back.  It's a pleasant walk from our apartment and good food.  Pancakes and sushi, who woulda thunk?
