Stitch Kindle Sleeve
My sweetie needed a sleeve for his Kindle to protect it when he carries it in his Indiana Jones’ bag. I found this adorable Stitch quilted fabric a few months ago and thought it would be perfect!
I didn’t have a pattern for this project, but here’s the general idea of how I put it together. I cut out and sewed a lining and the outside by measuring it against the Kindle.
I wanted to make a rounded flap, and this bowl turned out to be the perfect size! I traced the bowl on the lining, cut out the lining, and then cut the outer material to match the lining.
I had some leftover bias tape that I folded and stitched to make a loop. Then I sandwiched the loop in between the lining and the outer fabric. (Don’t forget right-sides together!)
I topstitched along the flap to make it look a bit more professional and help it lay flat. Next I sandwiched the flap between the lining and outer fabric, using the same idea as putting straps in my favorite go-to bag tutorial.
Of course, at this point I realized that it wouldn’t fit on my sewing machine. So I spent the next hour and fifteen minutes hand sewing it together. There’s no chance it’s coming apart now. (smiles)
I had found cute Stitch buttons at the 100-Yen two years ago and I was finally able to use one on something I made for Brandon! Yay!
There are a few things I’d change if I made another cover (I’m not liking how the flap lays), but overall, I’m happy with the project and so glad it’s finished and functional for my sweetie!

That is great Arielle! But I'm surprised you didn't make it in a flowery print for Brandon. ;)
The button is the piece de resistance!! And you found it at the 100 Yen Store?? Buttons are usually the most expensive part of any sewing, anymore!!
I like what you named his "man purse"...an "Indiana Jones bag." Sounds manly anyways!!
Is the lining soft enough to not scratch a kindle, or is the kindle made with a scratch resistant surface? Just curious. I'm sure you thought of EVERYTHING!
Maybe you should make him some matching accessories? He'll be the envy of all the guys!! :D
Keep up the good sewing! You crafty lady you.
"man purse"?! If by "man purse" you mean a World War II gas mask bag that was issued to the British Military! Which also doubled as the bag carried by Indiana Jones. Although mine only carries electronics, but you can still see the 1941 stamp and the company name on the bag.
