Dinosaur Play Mat

DSC04066

One of my recent crafty endeavours was designing and creating a dinosaur play mat for my godson’s 3rd birthday this year.  I used felt and a heavier gray material for the back of the mat and bag.

I enjoyed deciding what landmarks I was going to include for the optimal dinosaur playing experience.

I knew the pterodactyl was going to need a volcano so he could “soar” to great heights.

And no dinosaur land is complete without a nice water feature.  :)

I also made a drawstring bag to keep the dinosaurs and play mat easy to keep contained and easy to travel with.

Hope he enjoys playing with it as much as I did!

What a great project! I could see myself as a kid playing for hours with plastic dinosaurs on the soft, cloth mat on a rainy day at home or packing it up to take with me on a trip to Cleveland in the station wagon.
Although in my day, little green army men (due to availability) may have been substituted for pterodactyls and occasional brontosaurus.
