Tag, You’re It!

DSC04161

Thought you’d enjoy seeing one of the crafty projects I’ve been working on lately.

My friend found these wonderful red tags on sale at a local stationery store.  We split the pack and this is what I made with mine.

When I was back in PA last, I found three great sets of Asian stamps on clearance (yay for clearance section finds!) and knew I’d enjoy using them in a variety of crafty projects.  The find of these stamps also produced my first foray into the art of acrylic stamping.  (You buy a clear acrylic block and these stamps cling to the block easily, peel off, and re-cling whenever you want to use them again – brilliant and they take up so much less space for storage!)

Although I was hesitant at first of the whole clear-block-cling-system, after working with it this afternoon, I LOVE IT!!!  With the block being clear, I was able to see exactly where I was stamping, unlike the hunt-and-guess method I often employ with my rubber-mounted-on-wood stamps.

I love how these turned out!  They can be used for gift tags (just write to-and-from on the back), book marks, pretty additions to the front of greeting cards, or even journal additions (the back is perfect for a short note in your journal.)  In fact, I plan on tucking a few of these into my upcoming Hong Kong travel journal.  The tags came with wire twisties, but you could easily trade that out for some pretty ribbon, depending on your project.

For a fairly simple process (just one stamp in black ink per tag), I was very pleased with the outcome and can’t wait to find all sorts of crafty uses for them!  If you find yourself picking up a stack of these at your local office supply store this week, think happy thoughts of me and enjoy your creative time!

Brian - if I was doing THAT well at free hand work, well, that TRULY would be most impressive! I'll have to keep working on that skill, but for now, the stamps are so cute and easy. Miss you guys, too!

Megumi - so glad you liked them! Now it's your turn to make some! :)
