Okinawa World

We went down south on the island to Okinawa World this past weekend.  Staying true to theory, we found yet another route to get there...and a different one to get back.  After discussing this with other people, it seems like Okinawa World is part of a black hole on the island - no one can ever tell you exactly how to get there or how to get back.  You just drive until you find it...and then drive until you find something that looks familiar to get back.  hehehe  Not to jinx us, but we think we may have actually found a repeatable route for next time.  We'll see, though.  :)

It sure is nice to be able to enjoy the beach in the middle of December!

I took Dick over to Torii Beach to enjoy the beautiful day!  It was gorgeous outside and the water was incredibly calm.  We didn't go swimming (just stuck our toes in), but walked the beach and collected plenty of seashells and sea glass.  Very fun!

Where do you go when you are hankering for a good hamburger in American Village?  Why, you go to Freshness Burger, of course!  I had a Fish Burger, Brandon ordered a Teriyaki Chicken Burger, and Dick had a Negimiso Burger (Japanese leeks.)  All of us thoroughly enjoyed our burgers.

Mensore, Dick!

Gamera meets Dick

Gamera meets Dick

Today's word for the day - mensore (pronounced "men - so - reh") is the Okinawan dialect word for "welcome."  The Japanese word is "yoko-so," but as we're living in Okinawa, mensore is more correct.  Another example of "there is Japan, and then there is Okinawa."
