Rain and rainbows

If you've been following our weather for any reason lately, you'll know that for the past month, it's rained almost every day.  And I thought we got plenty of rain during rainy season this year!  This has been a much wetter summer than we experienced last year.  Between Typhoon Kompasu, several tropical storms, and just plain rainy days, we've experienced an over-abundance of days that looked like this:

Obon Festival

It's that time of year again.  Towards the end of August, Okinawa celebrates Obon to honor the spirits of their ancestors.  You can read more about the festival in last year's post.  This year we were prepared to run down the street to watch the dancers.

Cape Zampa

We had a momentary break from the seemingly-ever-present rain of late, so we decided to make the most of it and take a drive out to Cape Zampa in search of the Giant Shisa.  This adds yet another shisa photo to Brandon's ever-growing collection.  :)

Internet Extravaganza!

You can find us on two websites other than our own this week!  (If you happen to be in Times Square in NYC in the next four weeks, you can see us on a giant billboard, too, but I'm getting ahead of myself.)

First, I was trying to decide what to cook for dinner the other night, when I remembered my new Star Wars pancake molds.  Breakfast for dinner - the best kind!
