Brandon and I took advantage of a beautiful evening (the sun had put in a rare appearance) and walked down the Sea Wall to F.A.B. for their wonderful curry buffet. We sat out on the deck to watch the sunset over the East China Sea and noticed this new sign:
They were having lottery drawings for customers every weeknight. Just as we noticed the sign, the waitress brought us the lottery box so we could reach in and choose a ticket. Brandon and I both got winning tickets, much to our surprise and delight (I rarely, if ever, win anything!) The waitress later brought out two “to go” cups for our choice of curry from the buffet.
What a fun treat! (And yummy leftovers! Restaurants in Japan rarely offer to-go items, as there isn’t much room in a typical Japanese refrigerator for a doggy bag. There are more “to-go-okay!” options on Okinawa, due to the number of Americans they are catering to, but this was still quite the nice surprise!)
And to make the evening even better, the sunset was gorgeous! After months of rain and cloud cover, watching the sunset was all the more sweeter!
The tide was low, so we got to walk out on the coral after dinner.
So many pretty tidal pools to explore!
And what to our wondering eyes did appear, but…well, no reindeer, but we did find three big, bright blue star fish!
Neither of us had seen blue starfish in their native habit before! There were also lots of sea stars, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers in the pools, and while they are all interesting, it was the blue starfish that stole this particular show.
So beautiful!
We were definitely glad we took the time to explore the tidal pools! What an exciting discovery! More proof that we do, indeed, live on a subtropical island!
