We took the Metro over to Shiodome to meet up with Mayu for dinner. We got there a bit early, so we walked around the area to see what we could find. Brandon was happy to find an Okinawa restaurant during our meandering – I think he was going through shisa-withdrawal.
We also found this wonderful wall full of well-wishes for Japan’s recovery from the March tsunami and earthquake.
The entire wall was made like a mosaic.
We also found a shop of Iori’s favorite cartoon character “Anpanman!”
Brandon made friends with Anpanman (middle) and his buddies.
We met up with Mayu (my family’s year-long exchange student back in ‘97-‘98) at Hibiki. We enjoyed a wonderful course meal (of many, many courses.) The food was delicious, the view of the city lights over the harbor at night was amazing, and it was nice to catch up with Mayu. They even played “The Imperial March” while we were eating!
As the food was so good, I forgot to take photos until the dessert course. You’ll just have to believe me that it was good Japanese fare.
So nice to see Mayu again and to have her meet my wonderful Brandon! What a wonderful opportunity to renew old friendships!
